Cover to Cover is a Korean literature–focused podcast I co-created, co-produced, and co-hosted. We launched internationally on International Women’s Day (March 8, 2022) with the goal of spotlighting diverse Korean voices—especially writers whose work is feminist, queer, diasporic, experimental, or otherwise underrepresented in the global book market.
The podcast quickly developed an international listenership, averaging over 1,400 plays per episode across 42 countries, including South Korea, Canada, the United States, Singapore, Germany, India, and the UK.
My Role and Responsibilities
1. Creative Direction & Co-Production
Working collaboratively with designers, social media teams, and content creators, I shaped the creative identity of the show—from concept development to episode rollout. This included:
- Show structure and theme planning
- Consistent brand identity across platforms
- Coordinating artwork for episodes and promotions
- Integrating multimedia elements into each release
2. Writing, Research & On-Air Presentation
- In-depth reading and analysis of each selected book
- Researching authors, themes, and literary-historical context
- Writing interviews, scripts, and on-air discussion frameworks
- Co-hosting long-form conversations
- Presenting literary insights to global, multilingual audiences
- Connecting Korean texts to global movements and diasporic narratives
3. Audio Editing & Technical Production
I managed a significant part of the post-production workflow, including:
- Dialogue editing
- Noise cleanup & audio repair
- Pacing, structuring, and polishing episodes
- Mixing and volume balancing
- Preparing final audio files for distribution
Cross-Platform Distribution & Analytics Strategy
Using analytics from Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X, I created data-driven strategies to grow and stabilize our global audience.
This included:
- SEO-based podcast titling & metadata optimization
- Tailored social captions and hashtag strategy
- Audiograms, teaser clips, and thumbnail graphics (Photoshop/Illustrator)
- Short-form video edits for Instagram and YouTube
- Engagement-driven publishing schedules
- Community-building with listeners across multiple platforms
These efforts strengthened both our brand continuity and our international visibility.
